LAYOUT

The club currently has 38 complete, fully sceniced modules totaling 165' of three-track main line, or 5.0 scale miles.  TNT members have an additional 18 modules totaling 105’ which, when added to the layout, increases its size to 270' of three-track main line or 8.2 scale miles.  Unfortunately, limited space at Challenger N-Scale Hobbies causes us to keep many of our modules stored and displayed only at shows.  We do have a small operational layout at the store (6' x 14') plus workspace for building, modifying or displaying additional modules.  Club policy is that no module will be inserted into the layout or displayed at a show until it is fully operational and all scenery is complete.

We own and use a variety of power systems.  The small layout at CNS is powered by three MRC Tech II Railpower 2500 power packs and a Digitrax Zephyr DCC system with a switch panel that allows us to toggle between DC and DCC power options on each of the three lines.  At shows, we break the yellow and blue lines into three blocks each and power them with an Aristocraft DC analog power system with wireless remote throttles.  With six receivers and four remote throttles, we can operate two trains at a time on each of the two lines. Power for sidings and yards is supplied by several MRC Tech II Railpower 2500 power packs.  The red line is powered by a Digitrax DCC system
