Sign Board

Arroyo is the Spanish name for a deep, dry creek bed that is common in the southwest. Semi-arid climates are prone to having short-lived but heavy downpours that run off before the water can soak into the soil. The fast moving water causes erosion that continually deepens and widens these ravines. Typical of far southwestern Oklahoma, this arroyo meanders around sand dunes, under the railroad tracks, and on toward lower ground. A lone coyote bays at the moon from the top of a dune.

Description & History

Horse farms are not unique to Kentucky. Oklahoma bred and raised Quarter horses are some of the best in the world. As a school art project, the daughter of one of our members built a diorama with horses in a pasture on a one-foot square piece of 3/4" foam board. It had been sitting at the store for several years gathering dust. So, we decided to cut a one foot square hole in the bare foam of one corner, drop in the diorama and blend it in. It looks great! We do need to extend the pasture fence to complete the scene. Maybe someday that will happen.
